VOLUNTARY BERTH & SEAT COORDINATION

A more thoughtful way to coordinate a train seat exchange

Want to sit near family, prefer a lower berth, or coordinate a possible seat swap? YatriJod helps passengers share a request and find a willing co-passenger travelling on the same train.

How a voluntary seat exchange works

1. Share a request

Describe your train, journey date, coach and berth preference. Avoid publishing your full PNR, ticket screenshot or identity details.

2. Find a willing passenger

Look for another passenger on the same train who is interested in a mutually acceptable exchange. Neither person should feel pressured.

3. Confirm what is permitted

An in-app match does not change a reservation. Ask the TTE or railway staff whether the proposed arrangement is allowed before acting.

Use seat-exchange coordination safely

Common questions

Can YatriJod change my ticket?

No. YatriJod cannot edit an official railway reservation, transfer a berth, or guarantee approval of a swap.

Does matching mean the swap is approved?

No. Matching only helps passengers express interest. Confirm with railway staff/TTE and follow the applicable rules.

Should I share my full PNR to find a match?

No. Share only the minimum journey details needed to coordinate, and never post ticket images or sensitive identifiers publicly.

Important: YatriJod is an independent passenger coordination service, not an official Indian Railways or IRCTC service. It does not change tickets, guarantee a berth exchange, or replace official railway information. Exchanges must be voluntary and comply with railway rules; confirm with railway staff/TTE where required.
